A little bit about me…

Hi, my name is Emily Moss, the founder and visionary of Emily Moss Designs. As a Florida native, I have honed in on the coastal modern aesthetic which is evidenced throughout my designs. You will see blues, airy feels, and texture embedded in my designs without being overtly beachy. I identify wholly with the traits and characteristics of an Enneagram 3 and you can find me making goals for the future and checking off my to do list on the reg. I’m a #boymom (go sports!) and pet parent to an oversized Newfoundland pup named Murphy and 2 exotic short hair cats - Mr. Blueberry Pancake and Pumpkin Pie - whose names suite them perfectly. My husband Ryan and I, along with our kiddos, Mason and Miles, live on beautiful Anna Maria Island, located off Florida’s Gulf Coast.

My Story

Always having an entrepreneurial spirit, I started Emily Moss Designs in 2016. Over the past 6 years, we have gained both regional and national recognition in the press for some of our award winning projects. Something I have learned is that it is never too late to start and whatever you are meant to do will find you.

My husband and I met in college and got married at a young age. We had very humble beginnings and sacrificed a lot as we worked to build our family and businesses. I started my career as a teacher and pursued a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology. While I have always loved education, my true passion has always been architecture and design and for the longest time I kept pushing back my passions for the practical career in education. We took a leap of faith when we rented our first home and moved into the 700 square foot mother-in-law suite of my in-laws in order to start our businesses on the island. This short term move ended up being our home for seven years as we built our businesses from the ground up. We eventually purchased a home on the island and were able to renovate it from top to bottom and it is now an example of the Moss Builders craftsmanship and the epitome of the Emily Moss Designs signature coastal modern aesthetic.

I am grateful for my first client that took a chance on me and trusted me to design their home. That home ended up on the Parade of Homes for Anna Maria Island and kicked off my career in interior design. Emily Moss Designs not only creates beautiful spaces but we are integral to the build process of custom homes starting with floor plan revisions to the critical selections that give a foundation for the pretty furnishings and accessories that fill a space. My journey is still evolving and I hope this blog space serves as a space of inspiration for you in your home and day to day life.
