Beautiful & Functional Kitchen Islands

When it comes to kitchen design, the island is often the centerpiece of the space. A well-designed island can serve as a focal point for your kitchen, while also providing additional storage and workspace. At Emily Moss Designs, we specialize in designing kitchen islands that are both functional and stunning, and we're excited to share some of our favorite designs with you!

  1. The No Sink Island

In the great debate of whether or not to add a sink to a kitchen island, we really could argue either way. There is something so clean and functional about a grand island that has no sink as it really showcases a beautiful piece of stone. When we think of functionality, we love that you won’t see piled dirty dishes or freshly cleaned dishes drying on the island.

In this kitchen, we were able to install the sink under a window on the perimeter of the kitchen which meant we got to highlight this beautiful solid quartz countertop. Quartz is an excellent stone option for an island, it not not only looks beautiful, but it's also incredibly durable and easy to maintain. The island also includes plenty of storage, including drawers and cabinets, and is large enough to comfortably seat four people.

2. The Extra Storage Island

This kitchen island features paneled appliances that blend seamlessly with the surrounding cabinetry, giving the island a sleek and cohesive look. The contrasting wood tone on the cabinetry adds warmth and texture to the space, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The island also includes hidden storage that is accessible from the front, making it easy to store and access cooking supplies and appliances. Plus, the countertop is made of durable and easy-to-clean quartz, ensuring that it will look beautiful for years to come.

3. The Super Sink Island

For this kitchen island, we installed a 6-foot sink with multiple faucets for ultimate functionality. This island is actually 16-feet long so we had the space to maximize the sink while still keeping the overall aesthetic of the island balanced. In addition to a traditional hot and cold water faucet, the sink also features an auto hot and a soap dispenser. This allows for multiple people to work in the kitchen at once, making meal prep and clean up a breeze. Plus, the stunning marble countertop and sleek cabinetry create a luxurious and sophisticated look.

We truly believe that beautiful design and functional spaces can coexist, and these kitchen islands are just a few examples of how we bring that philosophy to life. Whether you're looking for a statement piece or simply need extra storage and prep space, kitchen islands offer the versatility to perfectly suit your needs and style.
