Erin Schrader, the creator of the popular blog Living in Yellow, has found her perfect getaway on Anna Maria Island. Originally from a small town in Indiana, Erin often visited Sarasota and Siesta Key. It wasn't until 2021 that she discovered the charm of Anna Maria Island (AMI). After renting a home for a week, she fell in love with the island’s laid-back lifestyle. The lack of commercial chains and the quaint atmosphere were captivating.

With numerous dining and shopping options within a 7-8 mile radius, Erin appreciates how easy it is to walk or bike to almost everything. This convenience, combined with the island's community feel, convinced Erin and her family that they needed a home of their own there.

They found Moss Builders and Emily Moss Designs, a well-known local builder and interior designer team. Erin was drawn to a home they were constructing, impressed by its location and layout. Working with Emily Moss Designs, she turned it into her dream island home, incorporating unique features and thoughtful design elements. The house boasts a hidden butler's pantry behind arched glass doors in the kitchen, stylish spaces upstairs for her out-of-town visitors, and a beautiful use of texture and color throughout. The color palette, inspired by the island and the Gulf Coast, features soothing blues, sandy neutrals, and vibrant accents that reflect the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Erin’s Anna Maria Island vacation home is a perfect reflection of her journey—finding a peaceful escape from harsh winters, while staying true to her love for design. It’s a place for family and friends to gather, creating memories in a space that captures the spirit of the island and its effortless charm.
