How to Incorporate Green in Interior Design

Green is one of the most versatile colors in home design—it can be bold and dramatic, soft and inviting, or fresh and playful, depending on how you use it. Throughout our projects, we’ve found so many creative ways to bring green into a space, from cabinetry and wainscoting to furniture, wallpaper, and even outdoor features like a custom putting green.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we’re sharing some of our favorite green moments from recent projects. Whether it’s a rich green kitchen, a nature-inspired wallpaper, or a fun pop of color in a bunk room, these spaces prove that green can add warmth, character, and a touch of personality to any home.

1. Color-drenched Cabinetry

Project: Casa Verde

Green cabinetry is a bold yet timeless choice that adds depth and character to a kitchen. In our Casa Verde project, we opted for a rich, earthy shade that anchors the space while allowing other materials—like natural stone countertops and warm wood accents—to shine. This sage green feels sophisticated and inviting, making the kitchen both a stylish and functional focal point. If you're hesitant to commit to full green cabinetry, try incorporating it on a kitchen island or lower cabinets for a balanced look.

2. Nature Inspired Wallpaper

This guest room from our Aqua Ami Project brings the outdoors in with a nature-inspired wallpaper that instantly transforms this bedroom into a serene retreat. The soft green hues, organic patterns, and botanical elements create a relaxing atmosphere without overwhelming the space. If wallpaper feels like too much of a commitment, consider a framed panel or an accent wall to achieve a similar effect. Paired with neutral linens and natural textures, this approach brings warmth and tranquility to any bedroom.

3. Colorful Wainscoting

Project: Casa Verde

A powder room is the perfect place to have a little fun with color. In our Casa Verde Project, we chose a soft green wainscoting to add character and dimension to the space. This approach allows the room to feel polished yet playful, especially when paired with gold fixtures and an oval mirror. The best part? Painted wainscoting is a cost-effective way to introduce color while keeping the upper walls light and airy.

3. Statement Ceiling Beams

Project: THe sweet spot

At The Sweet Spot Project, we found a creative way to incorporate green without overwhelming the space—through an accent beam. This unexpected detail draws the eye upward, adding architectural interest and warmth. To create a cohesive look, we also carried the same Kelly green into the wallpaper, subtly tying the elements together. Using green in structural details like beams or trim is a great way to introduce color in a way that feels intentional yet understated. This technique works especially well in neutral spaces where just a hint of color adds depth without overpowering the design.

4. Vibrant Dining Chairs

Project: Casa Verde

Dining rooms often lean neutral, but we love the unexpected pop of color that these green wishbone chairs bring to the Casa Verde Project dining space. Their fresh hue contrasts beautifully with the warm wood tones of the table, creating a vibrant and inviting setting for gatherings. For those who love color but want versatility, opting for bold dining chairs is an easy way to switch up a space without a long-term commitment.

5. Playful & Painted Bunk Room

Project: 215 HB

Bunk rooms are all about fun and creativity, and in the 215 HB Project, we embraced color with playful green-painted steps and a lively wallpaper. This combination adds personality while making the space feel bright and energetic—perfect for kids and guests alike. When using bold colors in a bunk room, balance is key: grounding elements like white bedding and natural wood help keep the space feeling cohesive rather than overwhelming.

6. Bold Ceramic Tile

Project: Casa Verde

Green tile is an effortless way to bring a spa-like quality into a bathroom. In this Casa Verde Project guest bath, we used a rich green tile accent to create a focal point in the shower. Whether in a herringbone pattern, stacked layout, or bold mosaic, green tiles add an organic, calming element that pairs beautifully with brass fixtures and natural stone. For a more subtle look, consider using green tile as a border or niche accent rather than covering an entire wall.

7. Greens That Elevate Your Game

Project: the sweet spot

A putting green isn’t just a backyard feature—it’s a statement. Designed for both function and style, this vibrant green turf brings an element of luxury and leisure to any outdoor space. The deep, natural color blends seamlessly with the landscape while providing a smooth, professional-quality surface for golf lovers of all levels. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing retreat or a space to perfect your short game, a custom putting green is a perfect way to blend aesthetics with performance.

8. A Green Welcome

Project: Casa Verde

The exterior of a home sets the tone for what’s inside, and at our Casa Verde Project, green plays a starring role. Whether through painted siding, lush landscaping, or a statement front door, green on the exterior creates a welcoming and organic feel. If you're not ready to commit to a full green facade, try using it in shutters, trim, or outdoor furniture to add just the right amount of color.
